This past week we asked the children to focus on how they felt. An image resembling a speedometer was used to provide: a visual, key words, and a common class language used to describle how we feel. For example, I feel blue because I am tired and my body feels slow. I am happy, so I feel green: my body feels just right. My body feels fast, yellow, because I am excited and nervous. When I am very afraid or angry my body goes red and out of control.
At the beginning of each class, the children identified how they felt and placed their photos on the appropriate area of the dial visual. Photos of each day are posted below. The morning class is the top row and the afternoon the bottom.
We are connecting the following colours, key words and feelings:
BLUE-slow-sad, sick, tired, bored, disappointed
GREEN-just right-happy, clam, okay, focused, content
YELLOW-fast-frustrated, excited, worried, silly, nervous
RED-out of control-very angry/mad, terrified, elated, hitting
