Analia & Mystic
This week at Junior Kindergarten, we welcomed yet another pet visitor! Analia visited the morning class with her pet bird, a 14-year old White Faced Albino Cockatiel named Mystic. The children once again had many questions and comments for our visitors:
"Can she fly?"
"She looks like a Pterodactyl!"
"She has a cool hair-do!"
"Sometimes you need a bird feeder for outside."
Analia answered all of our questions about Mystic and more! We learned:
At the end of the visit, the children were offered a chance to pet Mystic on her back, or have her perch on their arm. Wow, what a cool experience! A huge thank-you to Analia for taking the time to visit us with Mystic. We are so grateful!

"She has a cool hair-do!"

Analia answered all of our questions about Mystic and more! We learned:
- Mystic cannot fly. She doesn't have her secondary flight wings.
- She can walk and is very good at climbing.
- She uses her beak to scratch herself. This is called preening.
- At home, Mystic has a BIG cage with lots of toys, things to climb. They change how it i arranged often to keep Mystic interested (just like our playhouse!)
- Mystic is very social and LOVE's her family.
- Her hair-do is actually called her crest. Her crest tells you how she feels. If her crest is down, Mystic is relaxed. If her crest is up, Mystic is alert.
- Perhaps the most memorable fact that we learned about Mystic is that she poops and pees at the same time! Her poop is green and her pee is white.
- Mystic can wave, sing a song, and play peek-a-boo! She likes to chew paper and play with baby toys.
- Mystic does not like balloons or dogs (other than her family dog Bailey!)
