In anticipation of our first off-campus field visit, the children were shown the AGA website. We looked at AGA's beautiful building and saw a picture titled, "Who is Boo?" Images of Boo were placed in the children's journals, and their speculations about Boo were recorded.
In the program Tiny Art Adventures, we learned about line, colour, texture, and shape. For each concept we did an engaging activity and then found an example somewhere in the AGA. We also played in the World of Boo, where we found out Boo is a trickster rabbit!
Once we returned to JK, we revisited some of the concepts. We created different lines (straight, wavy, zigzag, coiled, squiggle, cirlce) with a caligraphy pen and ink. We used water colours to demonstrate colour. For texture, we glued items that were either smooth, soft, or bumpy. In addition, we started reading "Who is Boo?" So far we know Boo is a trickster rabbit that races around the world with his brother Peek. He has tricked the wolf into howling at the full moon. Just before we stopped reading, he stumbled into a Grizzly bear!
